Caring for Sterling and Silver Plate
Wear
- Wearing your sterling and silver plate pieces every day, even in the shower, is fine.
- Choose a non-citrus soap to wash your hands with, as citrus tends to ruin the finish over time
- Your pieces may tarnish a bit when wearing them. If they do, refer to the cleaning section for advice on how to best clean your piece.
Clean
- For light tarnish, clean with a good silver polish cloth, like sunshine polish cloths.
- For heavier tarnish clean with Wright's Silver Polish
Store
- When not wearing your silver, store it in an airtight container. It's sulfur in the air that tarnishes silver
- Store with tarnish preventing strips
- NEVER EVER band anything silver using rubber bands. These have a high sulfur content and will ruin the finish
